Sophie Harding was born in London and lives in Penzance. She works at home in her tiny studio, five minutes away from the seafront. Cornwall's natural beauty is fertile ground for inspiration, and Sophie is in constant dialogue with the heritage and artistic spaces around her, whether that is through visiting the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Gardens in St. Ives or completing an artist residency at Gallery Tresco. Sophie's recent visit to the Isles of Scilly and the simple way of living she experienced there, were of particular inspiration to this collection of works.
From 1993 Sophie has worked full time as a painter, illustrator and textile maker designing award-winning cards, gift wrap, tableware, posters, jigsaw puzzles, wallpaper, needlepoint designs, calendars, diaries, colouring-in books, prints for womenswear, tea towels and homewares for the UK and internationally. Current galleries exhibiting Sophie's works include New Craftsman Gallery, Birdie Fortescue, The Byre Gallery, Avalon, Square Gallery, Gallery Tresco, Mulberry Tree Gallery and Nadia Waterfield Fine Art.
